Description

At the center is the HAMMOND organ, once a jewel for tens of thousands of churches, but for decades now an indispensable instrument for pop, rock, jazz, and schlager!

In this worldwide unique exhibition, nearly the entire model range of this incomparable global success is available, starting with the HAMMOND A model from 1935, through countless other quirky developments, up to the legendary models HAMMOND B 3 and HAMMOND C 3, which to this day represent the pinnacle of electromechanical musical instruments worldwide, and accordingly, even after more than 70 years, shape the sound of current hits and concerts by world stars!!!
The fascination of this instrument is hard to describe:
Is it more this highly complex yet virtually indestructible technology, or rather this heartwarming sound? Or perhaps both?
We speak from experience: So far, more than a hundred thousand visitors have been enchanted by this unique instrument within seconds!!! Even those who were completely inexperienced before.....
In this special exhibition, however, other inventions of the non-musician [!!!] Laurens Hammond are also showcased, including for the first time the Hammond Electric Bridge Table, an automated card mixing table from 1931 with a random generator!!!
And of course, the vast model range of Leslie cabinets with rotating sound emission, today an indispensable part of the Hammond fascination, but once an absolute adversary for the inventor of the Hammond organ! Why?
